OK, someone tell me why it's such a pain in the ass to uninstall Outlook Express? *grumble*

Yikes! I wouldn't, if I were you. OE is anchored firmly and desperately to Windows. Yank it out, and you might take essential parts of Windows with it.

I know someone who did this, and she had a damaged registry, memory leak and a computer on life support for a long while before she scrapped it for parts. Getting all the important stuff off it before it died took up all that "long while". Better just to hide it and forget about it, if you can.

Hmmm. On which version of Windows?

If it's 98, I think that 98 Lite will do a bang-up job.
http://www.litepc.com/ . The free version is Good Enough. If you have to do a lot of them, let the company pay for it.

If it's 2000 or XP, that's a bit more difficult. SOme Registry pattching is needed there. Even if you remove the icons, or change the associations, MS has a way of hardcodinng the little buggers into MSN Messanger. And Hotmail. "Change Program Defaults?" does not work.

XP lite will do it, it seems.

Rich, I googled removing Outlook 6.0, and found the XP webpage you were talking about, but it was a pain. I'll just delete the shortcuts on the desktop and start menu and forget it. :-p
