Thanks to something in one of the Windows updates I downloaded yesterday morning, my home computer is hosed.
Now I get to spend my holiday vacation formatting the hard drive and reinstalling everything.
Fucking Microsoft...

You won't believe this, Jenn, but the exact same thing happened to me last night. I lost functionality in my optical drives, and Compaq "Instant Support" was no help whatsoever, so I ran a restore. Luckily, I still have all the programs I had before, I just gotta reload some of them. And MS Outlook has taken a major dump, so I fear my old E-Mail is gone forever...
But at least I can burn DVD's again - and I might have streaming audio capability back...
